Heritage Day at Ogilvy

Heritage Day Celebrations at Ogilvy Joburg  today...

Cape Town / Loerie weekend

On Thursday I went to Cape Town for a holiday, which was coincidentally interrupted by the Loerie festivities...

Here is more or less I spent my soul restoring time:

Thursday was spent getting into holiday mode with champers and sushi picnic with The Khal (and I am Khaleesi)

Friday I registered for The Loeries at The Grand Daddy Hotel, walked up and down the city centre, shopped, drank, visited Th O Mag Fashion Office to see Robyn and Luisa, and generally relaxed and enjoyed the city on a pretty day.

Later, Khal and I went for late lunch / early dinner. Started at Wakame, but ended up at The Grand in Granger Bay watching the sunset with delicious bubbly with our feet in the sand.

Saturday was probably the busiest day with a mix of holiday and Loerie activities
Started at Neighbourgoods Market at The Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock with Olwetu and her friend Linda, enjoying the sun, food, clothes and cocktails.

How huge is the wok?

In the afternoon rushed off to Paranga in Camps Bay for the Ogilvy "Team Red" lunch with Ogilvians from around the country. It was quite beautiful.

Delicious Chilli Mojito. What a pleasure
I caught a taxi back to my hotel - I couldn't find the free loerie shuttles :-)

Then went off to the first ceremony night at the CTICC. Riaan Cruywagen was host. Hilarious.

Afterparties were fun. Marie Claire winners party held at the reserve building followed by Ogilvy after party at Neighbourhood.

Sunday was perfect! The Khal drove us around,  went around and through Hout Bay, Noord Hoek, Fish Hoek, Chapmans peak and ended up in Kalk Bay for a long lazy lunch.

Sunday night I went to the ceremony, spent most of the time laughing at people and their stories of throwing away their name the night before. Loerie parties are not to be messed with.

The Hoff was host. This man has found his niche... CHEESE
He walked onto stage and sang the Baywatch theme song in the most glittery sequined jacket, and ended the show with another song with his Hoffetes

The David Hasselhof

I spent all of an hour at the Official Loerie Afterparty at Trinity. It was fun, but I was exhausted and felt like being in my hotel room watching The Emmy's drinking bubbly.

Had a lovely lovely time, and felt well rested by the time I got back to Jozi. Thanks to The Khal for treating me like a Queen and nursing me back to relaxation mode and out of stressed out mode

Skattie What Are You Wearing

I'm sure I've told you about my friend, Malibongwe's blog - Skattie What Are You Wearing

Awesome home of street style he captures at all the do's he attends around the country. The fashion buyer is no stranger to style, so you can trust his eye. His personality is also drenched all over the pages of his blog, with honest quirks and wit, and a lot of Skattie this and that. Just fabulous.

Last month Mali deservedly won Marie Claire's Prix D'Excellence best fashion blogger award- and I've finally made it onto the style collection. Captured at the Marie Claire Loeries winners afterparty this past weekend.

Got the skirt at steal and felt like a queen.

Yes, I throw my head back and laugh.... as unladylike as that is, it is blerry good fun.

Ogilvy Outfitters x Akona

I absolutely LOVE Ogilvy Outfitters

Essentially a place to see what Ogilvians from all over the world are wearing.

So, last week, I finally made it onto the site in my pretty vintage red polkadot dress (Got it at Market on Main),  Lion Matches ring (Journey on Long street), leather belt (Milk on Long street) soft leather tan shoes (Neighbourgoods Market at Biscuit Mill CT) and Virgin Mary earrings (Can't rememeber where I got those)

Vanity is a terribly delicious vice

Things that made me smile today...

Going Home

In a little while, I'm going home for the weekend.

Yes, ndingumgoduki (Direct: I am a home goer) - which essentially means that I'm not from where I live and I [often] go home.

And that home is Umtata. I was born at St. Mary's Hospital in Umtata, raised in Fort Gale and went Umtata High School for my early years. My parents moved us from the beautiful Transkie in 1994 to Transvaal as my mother was made Financial Director of Department of Public works and the Government moved, so we moved. Transkie, Transvaal and even Umtata have been renamed since, but some names will forever stick with me (Transvaal excluded)

My granny lives in Ikhwezi, Etyamzanshe, and there is where I am going. Home. Not quite where I was raised, but it is much closer than Randburg.

Unfortunately, most of the 11hour  drive will be overnight, so there won't be any pretty pictures.

I can't wait to smell the fresh air, see stars, animals, hills and mountains, fewer buildings and skyscrapers, more landscape; simplicity. See my granny, hear her voice, her laugh, her smile and her wisdom. Old people are wonderous...

In July we, Ogilvy Joburg, launched Mzansi Magic's new campaign to commemorate and celebrate a year of the channel's existence.
Launched the Van Tuka to the Future campaign with an incredible, nostalgic and magical star studded TV ad, print and outdoor ads all with the refreshed gold logo and awesome radio.

The TV was showcased for the first time at the first birthday celebration at Turbine hall which saw the likes of Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Steve Kekana, Kabelo, Ali Katt, Mafikizolo and more grace the stage in a musical journey of old and new - Van Tuka to the Future.
